An F-16 Fighting Falcon from the 555th Fighter Squadron, Aviano Air Base, Italy, takes off on an air strike mission against targets in the Balkans March 24. The squadron is assigned to the 31st Air Expeditionary Wing, Aviano Air Base, Italy,  which launched NATO aircraft for combat missions in the Balkans March 24.  F-117s, F-16s, O/A-10s, EA-6Bs, EC-130E, EC-130Hs, and KC-135s; EF-18s; CF-18s; and KC-130s, supporting both Bosnia and Kosovo operations. While more than 130 NATO aircraft from five nations are assigned here to actively support Bosnia operations, a total of 400 allied aircraft in the region stand ready as part of NATO's commitment to resolve the crisis in Kosovo.
