The Arabian Gulf (Mar. 23, 2003) -- A flight deck director directs an
F-14D Tomcat onto the one of four steam powered catapults as 'final
checkers' conduct their inspections before the fighter is launched from
the flight deck of USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Lincoln is
deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the multi-national
coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people, eliminate Iraq's weapons
of mass destruction, and end the regime of Saddam Hussein. U.S. Navy
