Two B-1B's from the 9th Bomb Squadron, 7th Wing, Dyess AFB, TX, are
refueled over the Bering Sea off the coast of Alaska by four KC-135's
from the 168th Air Refueling Group, Eielson AFB, AK, the 121st Air
Refueling Group, Rickenbacker, OH, and the 927th Air Refueling Wing,
Selfridge AFB, Detroit, Michigan. Four B-1B's took off on the
second of June from Dyess and flew non-stop around the world except for
one which made a bombing run in Europe and recovered in Lajes,
Portugal. The B1's were demonstrating Global Reach
capabilities and were also attempting to set a world speed record for
their weight class.
