OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH (AFIE) -- Senior Airman Eric Garcia, an A-10 Thunderbolt II crew chief from the 65th Operations Support Squadron at Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal, completes a post-flight inspection of an A-10A aircraft in support of Operation Southern Watch. The A-10 is the first Air Force aircraft specially designed for close air support of ground forces. It can be used against all ground targets, including tanks and other armored vehicles.
