At sea aboard USS Nassau (LHA 4) Nov. 7, 2002 -- U.S. Marine AV-8B Harrier vertical and or short takeoff and landing (V/STOL) strike aircraft, stand parked at the aft end of the amphibious assault ship's flight deck. The mission of the AV-8B is to attack and destroy surface and air targets, to escort helicopters, and to conduct other such air operations as may be directed.  Nassau is home ported in Norfolk, Va., and is on a regularly scheduled six-month deployment in the Central Command area of responsibility, conducting missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
