Virginia Coast (Mar. 17, 2004) - Aviation Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class Keith Hawkins, of Sedalia, Mich., stands-by to assist Chief Aviation Boatswain's Mate Agustus Jones, of Brooklyn, N.Y., in launching an AV-8B Harrier jump jet off the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Saipan (LHA 2). The AV-8B Harrier is assigned to the "Bulldogs" of Marine Attack Squadron Two Two Three (VMA-223). Saipan is currently underway in preparation for the ship's upcoming scheduled deployment.
