Coast of Okinawa, Japan (Jan. 25, 2003) -- A Sailor aboard USS Essex
(LHD 2) gives an AV-8B Harrier assigned to the "Diamondbacks" of Marine
Attack Squadron One Three One (VMA-131) the signal to launch during
deck landing qualifications. Essex is the Navy's only forward deployed
amphibious assault ship, and is steaming independently off the coast of
Okinawa, Japan conducting biannual training in an Urban Environment
