Pacific Ocean (Aug. 4, 2005) -- An Aviation Boatswains Mate directs an AV-8B Harrier, assigned to 1st Marine Air Wing, on the flight deck aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4). Boxer and the Kitty Hawk Carrier Strike Group are participating in the third annual Joint Air and Sea Exercise (JASEX) 2005 with the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Marine Corps in the Western Pacific. JASEX focuses on integrated joint training proficiency in detecting, locating, tracking and engaging units at sea, in the air and on land in response to a range of mission areas.
