Paratroopers with the 82nd Airborne Division, prepare to load onto a
C-130 aircraft at Al Asad Air Base, Iraq, Feb. 24, 2004. The C-130s
forward deployed in support of Operation All-American Lightning.
The operation was a joint U.S. Air Force and Army show of force
capabilities exercise. Air Force A-10s conducted strafing runs and
F-16s dropped a dozen bombs on a simulated target near the air field
before the C-130s dropped 240 paratroopers from the 82nd. The joint
show of force demonstrated the abilities of the U.S. military to
continue to respond and conduct its missions in a deployed
