Marines of 2D Light Armored Reconnaissance Battallion prepare to board a United States Air Force C-5 Galaxy plane at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, which will take them to Howard Air Force Base, Panama Canal, to relieve a Marine security force detatchment at the Camp Hayes compound situated on the shoreline of the Canal, which serves to keep the surrounding area of the base within U.S. control and free of smugglers and intruders.  (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
