Caption:

Staff Sgt. James Larose marshals a U.S. Air Force C-5B Galaxy to a parking spot on the ramp at Prince Sultan Air Base at Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia, on August 7, 1996.  The Galaxy is bringing in engineers, equipment and supplies to construct a tent city to house U.S. personnel conducting Operation Southern Watch.  Nearly 4,000 personnel, aircraft, and equipment are being moved from bases in Dhahran and Riyadh to the remote desert air base to reduce their vulnerability to terrorist attack.  Southern Watch is the U.S. and coalition enforcement of the no-fly-zone over Southern Iraq.  Larose is attached to the 615th Air Mobility Maintenance Squadron, Travis Air Force Base, Calif.  DoD photo by Staff Sgt. David W. Richards, U.S. Air Force.
