South Atlantic Ocean (Jun. 7, 2004) -- Aviation Electrician's Mate
Dawson Lorton, from Bartlesville, Okla., participates in a wash-down of
an E-2C Hawkeye assigned to the "Wallbangers" of Carrier Airborne Early
Warning Squadron One One Seven (VAW-117) aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN
76). Reagan is in the South Atlantic Ocean circumnavigating South
America during her transit to her new homeport of San Diego, Calif.,
while participating in exercises supporting Summer Pulse 2004. Summer
Pulse 2004 is the simultaneous deployment of seven aircraft carrier
strike groups (CSGs), demonstrating the ability of the Navy to provide
credible combat power across the globe, in five theaters with other
U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. Summer Pulse is the Navy
first deployment under its new Fleet Readiness Plan (FRP). U.S. Navy
