Pacific Ocean (January 24, 2005) - An aircraft director prepares an E-2C Hawkeye assigned to the "Golden Hawks" of Airborne Early Warning Squadron One One Two (VAW-112) for launch from one of the four steam-powered catapults on the flight deck aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier is participating in a Joint Task Force Exercise (JTFEX), the ship's final exercise before leaving on its scheduled deployment. Carl Vinson is scheduled to arrive in Norfolk, Va., upon completion of her deployment in preparation for her refuel and complex overhaul.
