Atlantic Ocean (Mar. 28, 2005) -- A squadron quality assurance member inspects the propeller of an E-2C+ Hawkeye, assigned to the "Bear Aces" of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron One Two Four (VAW-124), aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). The E-2C+ Hawkeye is modified with the eight-bladed NP2000 propeller. The new propeller, made by Hamilton-Sundstrand, increases performance and safety along with better maintenance techniques. The "Bear Aces" are embarked aboard Theodore Roosevelt as part of Carrier Air Wing Eight (CVW-8). Roosevelt is currently underway for Tailored Ship Training Availability and Final Evaluation Problem (TSTA/FEP) in the Atlantic Ocean.
