INDIAN OCEAN (October 18, 2009) -- Cmdr. Valerie Overstreet, Commanding
Officer to the “Wallbangers” Carrier Airborne Early Warning
Squadron (VAW) 117, lands aboard the USS Nimitz (CVN 68) completing
4000 hours of flight time in an E-2C Hawkeye. VAW-117 is assigned
to Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11 as part of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group
deployed to the region. Operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of
operations are focused on reassuring regional partners of the United
States’ commitment to security, which promotes stability and
