RAYONG, Thailand -- A CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter, from the Aviation Combat Element (ACE), takes off from the “White Land” embassy May 25.  The ACE, embarked USS Essex (LHD), is involved in evacuating 99 American Citizens and evacuees from a staged embassy during a simulated Non-Combatant Evacuation Operation (NEO) Exercise as part of exercise Cobra Gold 2002.  Cobra Gold is a joint/combined exercise and is the latest in a continuing series of U.S.-Thai military exercises designed to ensure regional peace and strengthen the ability of the Royal Thai armed forces to respond to regional contingencies.  Official U.S. Navy Photograph by: Photographers Mate 3rd Class (AW) Clover B.
