A CH-53E Super Stallion from Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 465,
Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, touches down on a
dusty field on an island along the Euphrates River in Iraq, June 13.
The helicopter was at the island picking up servicemembers who had been
dropped off earlier in the morning for a mission. A multi-unit force,
comprised of units from force reconnaissance, Army special operations,
combat engineers and a human exploitation team, as well as air units,
worked together to accomplish an intelligence-gathering mission.
