New Orleans (Sept. 8, 2005) - A flight deck Sailor stands with CO2 bottle ready to assist in case of any mishap as a MH-53E Sea Dragon helicopter prepares to launch from the flight deck aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7). Iwo Jima is currently pier side in New Orleans, assisting in Joint Task Force Katrina hurricane relief efforts to bring much needed supplies and help to Gulf Coast region. The Navy's involvement in the humanitarian assistance operations is being led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in conjunction with the Department of Defense.
