The Arabian Gulf (Jul. 1, 2003) -- Chief Aviation Boatswain's Mate
Michael Lauricella directs an F/A-18 Hornet assigned to the
"Warhawks" of Strike Fighter Squadron Ninety Seven (VFA-97) into
position for launch from one of the four steam powered catapults on the
flight deck aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68). Nimitz Strike Force and
Carrier Air Wing Eleven (CVW-11) are currently deployed in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom. Operation Iraqi Freedom is the
multi-national coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people, eliminate
Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, and end the regime of Saddam
