ABOARD USS KITTY HAWK (May 09, 2001) -- An F/A-18 from Fighter Squadron
Two Seven, the Royal Maces, gets prepared for the days flight schedule
aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). Exercise Tandem Thrust 01 is a
combined United States and Australian military training exercise.
This biannual exercise is being held in the vicinity of Shoal water Bay
training area, Queensland, Australia. More than 27,000 Soldiers,
Sailors, Airman and Marines are participating. Canadian units are
taking part as opposing forces. Tandem Thrust is a training
exercise for crisis action planning and execution for contingency
