Pacific Ocean (Nov. 14, 2002) -- An F/A-18C Hornet assigned to the "Golden Dragons" of Strike Fighter Squadron One Nine Two (VFA-192) prepares for launch from one of four steam powered catapults aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63).  Kitty Hawk and her embarked Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) are conducting joint training exercises during Keen Sword 2003.  Keen Sword is the 7th in a series of regularly scheduled joint/bilateral field training exercises since 1986 involving the Japanese Self Defense Force (JSDF) and U.S. military.  The purpose of Keen Sword is to train and evaluate wartime functions and bilateral cooperation procedures against the backdrop of a regional contingency scenario that has direct and immediate consequences to the U.S. and Japan.  U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate 1st Class Ted Banks.  (RELEASED)
