AL ASAD, Iraq-Maintainers, ordnance Marines and the crew who pilots the aircraft prepare another F/A-18D Hornet for launch.  Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 224 flew 24 sorties (day and night) in support of Operation Spear that began June 17 and lasted four days.  Spear was an operaton to root out insurgents and foreign fighters and disrupt insurgent support systems in the western region of Iraq.
