PERSIAN GULF (May 1, 2008) -- Aviation Electrician’s Mate 3rd Class Stephen Bell, assigned to the “Kestrels” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 137, performs maintenance on the engine bay of an F/A-18E Super Hornet aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Lincoln is deployed to the U.S. Navy 5th Fleet area of responsibility to support maritime security operations and help develop security in the maritime environment, which promotes stability and global prosperity. These operations compliment the counterterrorism and security efforts of regional nations and seek to disrupt violent extremists' use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons, or other material.
