Persian Gulf (Nov. 13, 2005) -- A Plane Captain assigned to the
"Diamondbacks" of Strike Fighter Squadron One Zero Two (VFA-102),
cleans the canopy on one of his squadron's F/A-18F Super Hornets aboard
the conventionally powered aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63).
Kitty Hawk and embarked Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) are currently
conducting the bilateral Annual Exercise 2005 (ANNUALEX) with Japan
Maritime Self-Defense Force. ANNUALEX focuses on improving the
military-to-military relationship between the U.S. and Japan. The
purpose of ANNUALEX is to improve bilateral interoperability, defend
Japan against maritime threats and to improve capability for surface
