China Lake, Calif. (Sept. 21, 2006) -- After a successful operational
test of the APG-79 AESA radar in support of the Strike Coordination and
Reconnaissance (SCAR) mission an F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to Air
Test and Evaluation Squadron Nine (VX-9) circles over Ridgecrest,
Calif., as it returns to its home at Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS)
China Lake. The aircraft is one of the first Super Hornets equipped
with the revolutionary new APG-79 Active Electronically Scanned Array
