PACIFIC OCEAN (March 20, 2008) -- Aviation Structural Mechanic (Equipment) 2nd Class Charles Beckerman, of Goldsboro, N.C., performs a maintenance check on the fire bottle of a Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 102 F/A-18F Super Hornet in the hangar bay of the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). A fire bottle is used to extinguish fires in an aircraft engine. Kitty Hawk is conducting training exercises in the U.S. 7th fleet area of responsibility.
