PHILIPPINE SEA (May 6, 2008) -- Lt. Cmdr. Stephen Riggs launches an F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 102 off the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). Kitty Hawk and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5 are on a spring deployment Ð the ship's last before being replaced by the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) as the Navy's only forward-deployed aircraft carrier.
