Seahawk from Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron (Light) (HSL) 51
conducts deck landing qualifications on board the dock landing ship USS
Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) in preparation for the weeklong Brunei phase of
exercise Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) HSL 51 is
forward deployed to Atsugi, Japan. Harpers Ferry, with the embarked
U.S. Marine Corps CARAT Landing Force (LF CARAT), is forward deployed
to Sasebo, Japan. LF CARAT is comprised of Marines from a variety of
units forwarded deployed to Okinawa, Japan. CARAT is a regularly
scheduled series of bilateral military training exercises between the
U.S. and several Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)
