Western Pacific Ocean (Sept. 21, 2003) -- On a no fly day, Aviation Machinist's Mate 3rd Class Joseph Minneman from Albuquerque, N.M., assigned to the "Indians" of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Six (HS-6) removes an axial fan assembly from the rotor of an SH-60 Seahawk on the flight deck of USS Nimitz (CVN 68).  The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group and embarked Carrier Air Wing Eleven (CVW-11) are deployed to the Western Pacific, and will remain there during the maintenance period of the forward deployed USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). U.S. policy is to maintain at least one operational carrier in the region to ensure a responsive defensive posture.  U.S. Navy photo by Airman Angel G. Hilbrands.  (RELEASED)
