Pacific Ocean (Oct. 26, 2003) -- An SH-60H Seahawk assigned to the
"Black Nights" of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Four (HS-4) takes
off from flight deck of USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) under smoke-filled
skies from nearby San Diego County firestorms. Stennis and her embarked
Carrier Air Wing Fourteen (CVW-14) are at sea conducting Composite
Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) in preparation for an upcoming
deployment. The multiple fires have burned more than 300,000 acres of
land and this catastrophic event is considered one the state's
