New Orleans (Sept. 6, 2005) -- U.S. Navy Chief Select Aviation Boatswain's Mate Joshua Kramer signals to a SH-60B Seahawk helicopter, assigned to the "Grandmasters" of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light Four Six (HSL-46), as it prepares to land aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7). Iwo Jima is currently in port in the city of New Orleans serving as the command and control center for Joint Task Force Katrina, the combined military effort to provide aid for the areas hit by Hurricane Katrina. The Navy's involvement in the Hurricane Katrina humanitarian assistance operations is led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in conjunction with the Department of Defense.
