South China Sea (Oct. 27, 2006) - An MH-60S Knighthawk assigned to
Helicopter Sea Control Squadron Two Five (HSC-25) takes off from the
flight deck of amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). Essex and
31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) are in the Philippines to
participate in annual bilateral exercises, Exercise Talon Vision (TV
07) and Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX 07), with the Armed Forces
of the Philippines (AFR). Essex is the Navy's only forward deployed
amphibious assault ship and is the flagship for the Essex Amphibious
