United States Army individuals Specialists Josuha Kepfer, Michael
Gillespie, and Sergeant Kenneth Osbourne, crew chiefs with the 82nd
Med, Fort Riley, Kansas inspect the main rotor of a UH-60 Blackhwak at
the JRTC. The Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC), primarily
centered at Fort Polk, Louisiana provides Aeromedical Evacuation (AE)
training. Joint/Combined forces participate under realistically
accurate scenarios and conditions replicating the initial phases of a
contingency including; deployment from home stations, staging at an
intermediate base area, onward deployment by air-land and ground
convoy, and initial combat employment. Overseen by a cadre of skilled
Observer/Controllers (OC), this quarterly exercise tests the abilities
of the forward deployed medical community to meet the immediate needs
of the wounded warrior. JRTC captures the concept of the "Warrior
Spirit" reflected in their motto "Committed to the Wounded Warrior".
