Pacific Ocean (March 14, 2003) -- A T-45C Goshawk recieves the launch signal from a 'shooter' on the flight deck aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74).  Goshawks are used for both intermediate and advanced portions of both the Navy and Marine Corps pilot training programs for carrier aviation and tactical strike-mission instruction.  Carrier qualifications are normally conducted on Atlantic-based carriers within close range of the Meridian, Miss. training facility.  However, the Navy was forced to move T-45 pilot qualifications to the Pacific due to the deployment of Atlantic fleet carriers to the Arabian Gulf.  U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate 3rd Class Joshua Word.  (RELEASED)
