An EA-6B Prowler of VAQ-142 drops away from a U.S. Air Force KC-135R of the 4408th Air Refueling Squadron (Provisional) after refueling over the desert of Saudi Arabia.  Both the EA-6B electronic jamming aircraft as well as the KC-135R tanker are flying from Prince Sultan Air Base, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Southern Watch.  The U.S. Navy EA-6B Prowler has taken over the electronic combat mission from the retiring EF-111A of the U.S. Air Force.  However, under a joint electronic combat mission, U.S. Air Force aircrew members have been assigned to the combined squadron and are deploying as a combined unit for the first time in the area of operations.
