Pacific Ocean (June 19, 2004) -- A Landing Signal Officer (LSO) "talks
down" an S-3B Viking assigned to the "Shamrocks" of Sea Control
Squadron Four One (VS-41) on the flight deck aboard the Nimitz-class
aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Lincoln is conducting
local operations in preparation for an upcoming scheduled deployment
after 10 months of dry docked Planned Incremental Availability (PIA).
Lincoln is one of seven aircraft carriers involved in Summer Pulse
2004. Summer Pulse 2004 is the simultaneous deployment of seven
aircraft carrier strike groups (CSGs), demonstrating the ability of the
Navy to provide credible combat power across the globe, in five
theaters with other U.S., allied, and coalition military forces. Summer
Pulse is the Navy's first deployment under its new Fleet Response Plan
