Central Command Area of Responsibility (Nov. 20, 2002) -- A coalition E-3 Sentry aircraft conducts a mission over Afghanistan. The E-3 is an airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft that provides all-weather surveillance, command, control and communications needed by commanders of U.S., and other allied air defense forces.
