Port Shueiba, Kuwait (Jul. 9, 2003) - A member of the Navy's cargo handling and port group (NAVCHAPGRU) maintains a steady hold on a line attached to an Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV) as it is lifted by crane into the cargo bay of the military sealift command ship USNS Charlton (T-AKR 314).  The equipment is part of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (1st MEF), which is returning to the U.S. after participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom, a multinational coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people, eliminate Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and end the regime of Saddam Hussein.  U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate 1st Class Arlo K.
