Camp Patriot, Kuwait (May 4, 2003) -- A lone Marine sits amongst a sea of flags and Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAV), as the Marines of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (15 MEU) prepare for their return to the Tarawa Amphibious Ready Group (TARG) upon completion of their missions as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The San Diego based TARG consists of USS Tarawa (LHA 1), USS Rushmore (LSD 47) and USS Duluth (LPD 6). The Marines of 15 MEU, homebased at Camp Pendleton, Calif., played a major role in the removal of Saddam Hussein and the oppressive Baath Party leadership.
