Soldiers with 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, Headquarters,
Headquarters Command, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division,
out of Fort Carson, Colorado, patrol an area near Forward Observation
Base Eagle, near Balad, Iraq, after the base came under mortar fire the
morning of Oct. 10, 2003. No one was injured and several Iraqis were
detained in connection to the attack. The 4th Infantry Division is
deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the multinational
coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people and end the regime of
