PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan, Philippines -- U.S. Marines and Filipino
contractors, with Prudential Customs Brokerage Services, Inc., assist
in lowering a High Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicle off of "Thor
Scan," a Military Sealift Command Contracted Cargo Ship. The HMMWV is
carrying a Smart-Transmission, which provides a satellite broadcast.
The cargo will be used by the U.S. and Philippine military forces
participating in Exercise Balikatan 2004, an annual U.S. and Republic
of the Philippines bilateral combined exercise, which will be held in
the Philippines Feb. 23 - March 7. The exercise demonstrates U.S.
resolve and commitment to train, advise and assist the government of
the Philippines.
