A Navy Landing Craft Air-Cushioned (LCAC) hovercraft pulled up to the shore of the area of coastline designated "Red Beach," deploying Light-Armored Vehicles (LAV's) from it's cargo hold during the the "D-Day" invasion in Stephenville, Newfoundland on Monday, June 15th, 1998, as a part of Maritime Combined Operational Training (MARCOT)/Unified Spirit '98, the joint/combined exercise including forces from Canada, Denmark, The United Kingdom, France, The United States and other NATO nations. This exercise provides cost-effective, realistic training for Canadian and NATO forces to improve the skills they might employ during a NATO-led peacekeeping-support operation.
