(April 6, 2008) -- Fireworks detonate as the Military Sealift Command dry cargo/ammunition ship USNS Amelia Earhart (T-AKE-6) is launched during a nighttime christening ceremony at General Dynamics NASSCO shipyard. Amelia Earhart, the sixth ship of the T-AKE class, is named after the aviation pioneer who in 1932 became the first woman to fly alone across the Atlantic.
