September 3, 1996 -- A Tomahawk Cruise missile is launched from the aft missile silo on board the U.S. Navy's Arliegh Burke Class destroyer USS LaBoon (DDG 58) at 0715 local time in the Northern Arabian Gulf. Following Saddam Hussein's offensive action into Kurdish territory within the UN sponsored no-fly zone, above the 36th parallel, U.S. Naval forces launched 14 Tomahawk Cruise missiles on targets in Iraq.  U.S. Navy Photo by Photographer's Mate 1st Class Wyane W.
