Souda Bay, Greece (Oct. 19, 2002) -- USS Laboon (DDG 58) arrives in Souda Bay for a brief port visit. Destroyers and guided missile destroyers operate in support of carrier battle groups, surface action, amphibious and replenishment groups. Destroyers primarily perform anti-submarine warfare duty while guided missile destroyers are multi-mission, anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine warfare combatants. The Laboon is homeported in Norfolk, Va., and is on a scheduled six month deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. U.S. Navy photo by Paul Farley. (RELEASED)
