Sattahip, Thailand (July 8, 2004) -- The guided missile destroyer USS Russell (DDG 59), is assisted by two tugboats as it returns to port following the Thailand phase of exercise Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT). Russell and the other ships of the CARAT Task Group took part in a variety of operational events with ships of the Royal Thai Navy during the underway phase of the exercise. CARAT is a regularly scheduled series of bilateral training exercises with several Southeast Asia nations designed to enhance the interoperability of the respective sea services.
