Pacific Ocean (Aug. 13, 2005) -- The guided missile destroyer USS
Fitzgerald (DDG 62) pulls away from the conventionally powered aircraft
carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) after successfully completing a
formation exercise with Destroyer Squadron One Five. The Kitty Hawk
Carrier Strike Group, including embarked Carrier Airwing Five (CVW-5)
and the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4) are participating in
the 3rd annual JASEX 2005 with the U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Marine
Corps in the Western Pacific. JASEX focuses on integrated
joint
training proficiency in detecting, locating, tracking and engaging
units at sea, in the air, and on land, in response to a range of
