PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 28, 2009) -- The Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) fires its five-inch 54-caliber MK45 gun during routine training operations off the coast of Okinawa, Japan. The MK45 provides surface combatants with accurate naval gunfire against fast, highly maneuverable surface targets, air threats and shore targets.  Fitzgerald is part of Destroyer Squadron 15 and the USS George Washington Carrier Strike Group underway supporting security and stability in the western Pacific Ocean. U.S. Navy photo by Senior Chief Firecontrolman Daniel M.
