Souda Bay, Crete, Greece (June 25, 2006) - The guided missile destroyer USS Ross (DDG 71) arrives in Souda Bay for a brief port visit. The Arleigh Burk-class destroyer departed her homeport of Norfolk, Va., for a regularly scheduled six-month deployment. Ross is currently assigned to Standing NATO Response Force (NRF) Maritime Group Two (SNMG-2) and is operating in support of Operation Active Endeavor, NATO's maritime contribution to the fight against terrorism. SNMG-2 is a naval force made up of vessels from various allied nations, training and operating together as a collective whole under the Commander, of the Component Command Maritime Naples (Mar-COM Naples).
