At sea with USS Mahan (DDG 72) Sep. 27, 2002 -- The guided missile
destroyer steams behind the George Washington during a regularly
scheduled deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The
Washington is participating in exercise “Mediterranean
Shark” during a regularly scheduled deployment in support of
Operation Enduring Freedom. The exercise is a bilateral training
exercise conducted in Morocco by a U.S. Marine Expeditionary Unit
(MEU), Special Operations Capable (SOC), to show the effectiveness of
the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF). The MAGTF allows commands to
task organized surface and air assets for use in meeting specific ends.
